The AfPIF 2024 Program Committee is now seeking contributions for presentations and panels for the upcoming AfPIF event in Kinshasa, DR Congo. We are looking for individuals who can:
- Participate in the conference sessions as a speaker
- Convene and chair panel sessions
- Deliver commercial and technical tutorials
Event Overview
The African Peering & Interconnection Forum (AfPIF) is a 3-day event that addresses the key challenges and opportunities within Africa’s Internet ecosystem. It provides participants regional insights and global networking opportunities related to Internet infrastructure, content, services, and traffic exchange. The forum targets executives, business development managers, peering coordinators, engineers, and government stakeholders.
The conference format includes keynotes, presentations, panel sessions, tutorials, and lightning talks. There are dedicated networking sessions and multiple social events.
Suggested Themes
Presentation, tutorial, and panel proposals should address one or more of the following themes:
- Peering, interconnection, and transit strategies
- Interconnection policy and regulation
- IXP and data centre ecosystem development
- Research on the African Internet, including routing and network interconnection
- Experiences and lessons learned from deploying Internet infrastructure
- New technologies and innovations related to peering and interconnection
- WomenTechConnect: Discussions to help make the Internet engineering space more comfortable with gender diversity.[[1]]
- Topic guidance for 2024: Empowering Women Internet Engineers: Mentorship, Advocacy, and Allyship Strategies for Success
- Other matters that relate to peering and interconnection

Submission Requirements
Submissions must be made online.
- Slides must be provided with all submissions
- Abstracts or Draft slides are acceptable for works-in-progress
- Slides must be submitted in PDF format only
- Presentations should be non-commercial. Marketing talks will not be accepted.
- Preference for onsite presentations

Submission Schedule
- Call for papers opens: 15 April 2024
- Submission deadline: 31 July 2024
- Submissions will be reviewed fortnightly on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- Acceptance & rejection notifications will be sent no later than 2 August 2024
- Presentation time slots will be allocated based on acceptance.
- Final slides due: 10 August 2024
