This day is uniquely set to provide an opportunity for peering coordinators to share experiences on growing and developing peering business opportunities. This session will benefit peering coordinators to learn new and emerging peering and transit strategies from the region and beyond. The peering coordinators day also includes technical tutorial and lighting talk sessions that seek to discuss technical and business solutions related to peering and transit. Peering Bilateral Over 95% of all peering agreements are “handshake” agreements that take place at peering events such as AfPIF. The peering bilateral sessions are allocated to provide time to seek and develop peering opportunities with other networks and IXPs present at the event. Following requests to introduce the peering bilateral session, we have allocated time for the session to take place. A preceding tutorial on the peering bilateral session will be provided with an aim of introducing the tools and techniques to benefit from the session. |

This session will aim to discuss the emerging Content opportunities and identify how regional operators can leverage the growing number of users to attract providers in the region. The session will also aim to unpack the diversity of content regulation and policy in the region, with an objective of highlighting the opportunities. The sustained investments in terrestrial (backhaul and metro) fiber, submarine cables, data centers, broadband (wireless and wired) access and the development of online applications and services will lead to an increased demand in efficient IXP operations. This session will discuss strategies that IXPs need to consider in order to grow their business models and attract members outside of their traditional market and region. The session will also aim to discuss ways we can collaborate to enhance measurements and statistics from the African region. This will enable the community to collectively assess the progress being made on national and regional interconnection and identify the gaps and opportunities that need to be explored. - IXP Futures – the opportunities for IXPs to grow national and cross-border peering |
